When the Americas were discovered in the late 15th century, the Old World was introduced to an incredible rich culture throughout the region. Our Wounaan Indian carvers come from the Darien Rainforest Region of Panama, a geographical area between Panama and Colombia and feel a link to their Pre-Columbian heritage as represented by this figure. Hand carved, artist signed, 27 mm rectangular sardonyx shell cameo.
